THE RENTAL GIRL SPOTLIGHT SESSIONS: JEN

THE RENTAL GIRL SPOTLIGHT SESSIONS: JEN

The Rental Girl Spotlight Sessions are like one-on-one, virtual coffee dates with our real estate agents. We ask one of The Rental Girls 5 simple questions, they respond with  5 honest and (we hope!) insightful answers. This gives our readers a chance to get up close and personal with the real girl behind the avatars on our site, and gain further insight into The Rental Girl company. Feel free to leave questions/curiosities in the comments section below!

Meet JEN The Rental Girl’s Pasadena, Altadena and San Gabriel agent.

Where were you born, and what brought you to Los Angeles?

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and never left because it’s home to me, it’s my community. Pasadena Girl for LIFE!

When did you know you wanted to become a real estate agent, and what attracted you to The Rental Girl?

Growing up I was always so fascinated with looking at open houses. Driving around with my parents, we’d see an open house sign and I’d always want to stop inside and take a look. It started there, and then once I got to college I began helping friends find apartments on Craigslist etc.  People started telling me “You should get into real estate! You’re really good at this!” I was just always looking at properties, and if friends told me they were moving to Pasadena I’d say “Ooh you need to check out this place, or that place!”  So then I got my license and that’s how it all started.

I was a licensed agent at Keller Williams when the real estate market crashed, and a lot of my clients were losing their homes so I was helping them look for rentals. Then one day I went on Craigslist…this is a true story guys, and looked at the real estate section and saw an ad from The Rental Girl. They were looking for a Pasadena Rental Girl.  I emailed the owner Liz and told her “I am your girl, I’m everything you’re looking for!” We met the next day and that was it–it instantly worked.

Favorite thing about your neighborhood?

Being able to walk to places. I live two blocks from Old Town so I walk everywhere—I can walk my dog, I can take my kids. The location is just great, and the community itself is super friendly.

No. 1 piece of advice for renting in LA?

Use The Rental Girl website! (laughs) No really though…I always tell people to watch The Rental Girl’s “How To Apply For A Rental Property” video. Even if you’re not looking at one of our properties, the best thing I can tell you is to watch the video so you’re prepared to go to a showing with a completed application. Even if it’s a generic application, have your Introduction Letter and completed application ready because when you go to showing with 10 other people—you’re going to be the one who stands out to the agent. It shows them that you really have your stuff together.

When you’re not busy being The Rental Girl, what do you find yourself doing?

Going on hikes, dinner with friends, raising my kids, Mommy+Me classes, art classes with the kids, and working out.

Wow, what a slacker! Jen is truly a Pasadena Rental Girl through and through, and handles her busy career as well as raising a family with such grace and dedication. If you’re looking for a home in Pasadena, Altadena or San Gabriel, Jen would love to take care of you! Visit Jen’s page on The Rental Girl site and browse her properties to see if she has what you’re looking for! Don’t see a current listing that fits your specific needs–don’t fear!
