ADD SOME PERSONALITY TO YOUR RENTAL!

ADD SOME PERSONALITY TO YOUR RENTAL!

Okay, so you have a Pinterest board titled “Dream Home” completely decked out with colorful walls, a wood-burning fireplace, subway tile backsplash, and all other design elements required for a Dwell magazine cover home; however you currently live in a rental that has builder grade everything with walls you can’t paint, and the closest thing you have to a fireplace is a Lasko tower heater you got for $37 from Amazon. But wait! You can still add some personality and character to your rental–you just have to get creative! Apartment Therapy came up with some beautiful renter-friendly design solutions that will still make use of that Pinterest board, and get you closer to living in your dream home while you keep rocking that rental life! Here’s some of our faves:

Vintage hardware

Little details can make a big difference. Using vintage hardware on your cabinets, and maybe even your doors (like designer Jessica Helgerson did above), will add a touch of old-world charm to even the most generic space. Be sure to keep the original hardware to swap out when you turn back in the keys!

Ceiling medallions

Adding moldings to a room where none exist is a pretty ambitious undertaking, but a ceiling medallion, on the other hand, is fairly easy to install, and still has a big impact. (image via Elle Denmark).

Wallpaper

“Add wallpaper? In a rental?” you may be thinking. But there’s actually a really simple way to do this, even if the wallpaper in question is not temporary or removable. The secret? Double stick tape. (image via Domino)

We LOVE how creative, yet rental-friendly these design ideas are! We recommend checking out online, home store sites Wayfair and AllModern to spice up your rental without breaking the bank (or your lease!) Honestly when you can make your rental looks this good, it’s hard to imagine ever wanting to leave…
